In 1957 a group of intelligent Managers gathered informally to discuss pertinent issues then that were affecting them in their profession. Amongst many outstanding thoughts and suggestions from a handful of the managers was the need to formulate a professional organization to champion their cause. A resolution was passed at that meeting and a membership-based organisation was born which was later named Zimbabwe Institute of Management in 1980.
Over the years this organization curved itself into an autonomous, non-profit making Leadership and Management Development training Institute. Its objective has been to promote and develop best practice in Leadership and Management.
The Institute’s membership compromises of individual, corporate and student members. Now the range of products include executive diploma programs in Business Leadership, General Management, Applied Strategy, Sports Management as well as diplomas in Business Administration, Project Management, Environmental Health and Safety Management, Supervisory Management and Security Management.
The institute now offers certificate courses in various fields of management in addition to customized in-house programs to corporate clients. The institute now facilitates and organizes a range of activities and functions where executives from organizations in the public and private sectors converge to discuss topical issues and exchange information and ideas aimed at seeking solutions to concerns of business. Seminars, workshops, conferences, breakfast meetings, luncheons, and cocktails are organized in conjunction with strategic partners. The institute develops and maintains a network system with other management institutes and training organizations locally, regionally, and internationally.
Our mandate is to promote best practices in the management and leadership through quality, Market driven programs and activities in the region and beyond. Our Office are located at 34 Fereday Drive, Eastlea, Harare, and its Regional Office is located at 29A George Silundika Street, Between 1st & 2nd Avenues , Bulawayo. As a way of reaching out to the nation as a whole, the Institute also runs its programmes in Victoria Falls, Hwange, Beitbridge, Gweru, Mutare, and Masvingo.
